Today’s Devotional
A whitewashed tomb is a forceful image. Its exterior is orderly and commands respect, yet there is no life within. Jesus is not condemning beauty. He exposes the fracture that appears when visible devotion is separated from what is happening in the heart.
Perhaps you are not trying to deceive anyone. You may simply be tired, and it feels easier to repeat familiar motions than to stop beside what hurts within. Christ’s word opens a door in the wall, not to shame you, but to let in air.
Paul speaks of working with his own hands and offering an example. Integrity is often this quiet: doing the work entrusted to us, keeping our word, and not placing on another person what belongs to us. The gospel takes flesh in ordinary faithfulness.
Choose one area today where the outer and inner life have drifted apart. Do not rush to repair it. Tell Jesus the truth, then take one small, honest step. Life often returns through a narrow opening.
Jesus does not admire the wall; he brings life behind it.
Write two short sentences: “Outwardly I show…” and “Within me there is…”. Read them before Jesus. Then choose one small action that brings the two closer together.

Heavenly FatherHeavenly Father, we praise you because you do not judge by appearances. You know the hidden rooms of the heart, and your fatherly mercy does not turn away from what it finds there.
We bless you because you give work, bread, and peace. Your providence carries us in the simple order of ordinary days, and your faithfulness preserves life within us.
Lord Jesus ChristLord Jesus Christ, we magnify you because your truthful word breaks through the wall of hypocrisy. The scenery falls away before your gaze, yet you do not leave us alone.
We adore you because on the cross you did not conceal the wound of the world but carried it. In your resurrection life entered the place of the tomb; in you death cannot speak the final word.
Holy SpiritHoly Spirit, we praise you because you keep the word of Christ alive within us. You give light for self-knowledge and gentle courage for truthful speech.
We bless you because you shape faith into ordinary faithfulness. In our work, patience, and steps toward peace, you ripen the life of Jesus.
Holy Trinity, one God, glory be to you, who call us from appearance into truth and from lifelessness into life. Dwell within us and make our whole life a witness to your love. Amen.

Nothing to Decorate
Father, I place before you what is within me now: my thoughts, feelings, and bodily weariness. I will not whitewash what needs healing.
Jesus, I surrender my roles, performance, status, success, and failure. Teach me to be the same person before you, before others, and within myself.
I entrust my family, my loved ones, and all the work and burdens of today to you. Give me a clear intention and peaceful perseverance.
Holy Spirit, open the way of life within me. Let the Father’s gaze rest upon me, and let me remain close to Jesus. Amen.
