It Begins Within
You do not have to put everything visible in order before coming to God. Let Jesus look today at the place from which your words and choices arise.

Today’s Devotional
Jesus’ strong words today do not lead us toward faultlessness, but toward honesty. The Pharisees carefully observed small requirements while neglecting what carried real weight: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Behind the orderly exterior, the heart had been left unattended.
It is easy to polish the outside of the cup: to complete what others can see, choose the right words, and appear devout or strong. Yet Jesus does not seek to shame us. He draws near to the inner place where resentment, greed, or fear quietly shapes the day.
Paul reminds us that God called us through the gospel so that we might share in the glory of Christ. This invitation is not a cosmetic improvement. Christ forms us from within so that our visible life increasingly flows from what he is doing in the heart.
Do not try to repair everything at once today. Name one inner impulse before Jesus, then choose one small and truthful act: ask forgiveness, show mercy to someone, or keep your word. In this way, inner cleansing gains hands and feet.

Open your empty hand before you and name to Jesus the one impulse most likely to lead you today. Ask, “What would be the just, merciful, and faithful step now?” Choose one and do it before noon.

You See the Heart
Heavenly FatherHeavenly Father, we bless you because your justice shows no partiality, and your mercy does not run out when you see what is disordered within us. Your faithfulness holds firm those whom you have called to yourself.
We praise you because you do not love according to appearances. You know the hidden motive and the unspoken longing; your fatherly goodness kindles light within us and leads us home to a truthful life.
Lord Jesus ChristLord Jesus Christ, we magnify you because your word separates appearance from truth. You do not leave us captive to a polished surface, but speak directly to the heart.
We adore you because on the cross love and obedience were perfectly one in you. Cleansing flows from your risen life: it does not conceal, but forgives, restores, and opens a new way.
Holy SpiritHoly Spirit, we praise you because you uncover what needs healing within us without abandoning us to shame. You write the truth of Christ into our hearts with mercy.
We bless you because you give strength for the faithful step. You make the Word alive in us and ripen fruit whose goodness can be tasted in our ordinary relationships.
Holy Trinity, one God, glory be to you, for your justice, mercy, and faithfulness cannot be divided. Cleanse us within and make our lives a simple and truthful sign of your love. Amen.

I Give You My Heart
Father, I place before you my thoughts, my feelings, and the tension I carry in my body. I will not make them look better before you.
Jesus, I surrender my need to make a good impression, my performance, status, success, and failure. Show me where appearance has become more important than love.
I entrust my family, my loved ones, and the relationships in which mercy or faithfulness feels difficult. Begin in me the cleansing that can also make peace around me.
Holy Spirit, lead me into one truthful step today. Let God’s gaze rest upon me, and let my eyes remain upon him. Amen.

Jesus, cleanse me within and lead me in a merciful step.
