Who Do You Say I Am?
Jesus’ question is not an examination today; it is an invitation to come closer. Let the answers you have heard from others grow quiet for a moment, and turn to him with what is in your heart now.

Today’s Devotional
Jesus first asks what people say about him. The disciples answer easily; many names are being repeated. Then the question steps closer: “Who do you say I am?” Here no one can hide behind another person’s words. Jesus is not asking for information. He is calling you into relationship.
Peter’s answer is both clear and received as a gift. Jesus says that human skill did not work this out in him; the heavenly Father revealed it. At the deepest point of faith, God always moves first. He opens a window in the heart so that you can recognize the face of Christ.
Perhaps you do not feel rock-solid certainty today. Peter’s story still gives hope: Jesus entrusts his Church to a man who will later fear, fail, and weep. The rock’s strength is not Peter’s perfection. The faithfulness of Christ holds what he builds.
Say the name of Jesus slowly today. Do not try to form a perfect sentence. Tell him who he is to you in this joy or in this uncertainty. From a personal answer comes the next faithful step, and from that step a life on which others may also find support.
Confession becomes living faith when your own life answers the question of Jesus.
Sit with the Gospel’s question for five minutes: “Jesus, who are you to me today?” Write one honest sentence. Then ask: what single decision would express this answer today?

Heavenly FatherHeavenly Father, we praise you because the depths of your wisdom and knowledge are beyond searching. Everything comes from you, lives through you, and returns home to you.
We bless you because you open the heart to recognize your Son. You do not leave us among mere opinions; your love kindles light within us.
Lord Jesus ChristLord Jesus Christ, we magnify you because you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. In you, God came near, took a human face, and called us by name.
We adore you for your cross and resurrection. You are the foundation of your Church; even the gates of death cannot overcome the life you sustain.
Holy SpiritHoly Spirit, we praise you because you testify to Christ within us. Among many voices, you keep the question of Jesus alive and lead us toward a truthful answer.
We bless you because you shape our confession into everyday faithfulness. You give courage to the weak, wisdom for decisions, and love for what has been entrusted to us.
Holy Trinity, one God, all things are from you, through you, and for you. Glory be to you, who reveal the face of Christ, sustain your Church, and awaken living faith within us. Amen.

I Build upon You
Father, I place before you everything I have heard others say about you, and all that I still do not understand. Open within me a quiet place of recognition.
Jesus, I give you my answer today, even if it trembles and remains incomplete. You are the Son of the living God; I want to follow you.
I entrust to you my roles, my performance, and the fear that I am not firm enough. Let your faithfulness be the stone beneath me.
Holy Spirit, show me the next truthful step. Shape my spoken confession into patience, a courageous decision, and merciful presence.
Holy Trinity, one God, I entrust my loved ones, your Church, and this day to you. Let your gaze rest upon me, and let me remain with you. Amen.
