Bring Him Here to Me
Some things cannot be repaired, no matter how tightly you hold them. Today Jesus does not ask for greater effort, but for you to bring him what is beyond you.
Today's Scripture
Bring the boy here to me.
Matthew 17:17
Jesus, I bring you what I cannot solve. I place my mustard-seed faith in your hands and entrust myself to your guidance.Reflection
Today’s Devotional
A father kneels before Jesus. His son is suffering, and the disciples have been unable to help. You may know this place: after many attempts, ideas run out and only pain remains in your hands. Jesus then says, “Bring the boy here to me.” He does not ask them to solve it first. He asks them to bring the child to him.
Habakkuk stands just as honestly before God. He sees evil and cannot understand the Lord’s silence. Still, he takes his place at the watchpost and waits. The answer is not hurried, but it comes: “The righteous person will live by his faithfulness.” Faith here is not loud certainty. It is a narrow footbridge over the dark on which you take the next step.
A mustard seed is tiny. Jesus speaks of it because faith draws its strength not from its size, but from the One to whom it is joined. You do not have to be stronger than the mountain. The Holy Spirit within you is greater than what threatens you, and the Father can guide you where you cannot see a road.
Do not try to manufacture unwavering strength within yourself today. Name the person or burden you are bringing to Jesus. Then remain before him for a moment with an attentive heart. The mountain may still stand. But you no longer face it alone.
Mustard-seed faith is enough to place your helplessness in the hands of Jesus.
Write one name or one sentence about what you cannot solve. Hold it and say, “Jesus, I bring this to you.” Then ask: what is the next small step you are leading me to take today?
Praise of the Holy Trinity
You Are Greater than Every Mountain
Heavenly FatherHeavenly Father, we praise you because your eye remains upon us along the winding road. Your wisdom does not end where our understanding reaches its limit; your faithfulness is firmer than visible circumstances.
We bless you because you patiently teach and guide us. You do not drive us blindly, but give light in your word and draw the attentive heart near through your fatherly love.
Lord Jesus ChristLord Jesus Christ, we magnify you because you receive the suffering child and the helpless father. Evil retreats before your word, and your mercy reaches where human strength can no longer help.
We adore you for your cross and resurrection. In the depths of the Father’s silence you carried our redemption through, then answered death with the unconquerable word of new life.
Holy SpiritHoly Spirit, we praise you because you dwell within us and are greater than the one who seeks to frighten us. In Christ’s victory you give sober judgment, courage, and endurance.
We bless you because you lead us to Scripture and teach us to listen. When we cannot see the road, you gently direct our steps and grow our mustard-seed trust into living hope.
Holy Trinity, one God, you are our strength, guide, and deliverer. Glory be to you, who work even in silence, bend close to the suffering, and faithfully lead us home. Amen.
Morning surrender
I Place It in Your Hands
Father, I place before you the question I cannot answer. I do not want to deny the pain or decipher your silence alone.
Jesus, I bring you the person I love and what I cannot change within myself. Have mercy on us.
I give you my performance, my roles, and the fear that I am not enough. My faith is small too. Yet it is yours.
Holy Spirit, keep me alert and guide me according to your word. Show me the next faithful step and give me strength to take it.
Holy Trinity, one God, I entrust both the mountain and the timing to you. Let your gaze rest upon me, and let me remain with you. Amen.
Carry this with you
I bring it to Jesus; I do not have to move it alone.
